You open the battery compartment, see a label that says 60V or 72V, and wonder if you can upgrade. Or your old pack died and you want a lithium replacement that actually fits.

The voltage printed on your controller is the one number you cannot guess. Fit the wrong pack and the bike either refuses to run or the controller overheats.

This post gives you a plain rule for choosing between a 60V and 72V EV bike battery, based on your controller, your daily ride and the bikes common on Pakistani roads.

Quick answer

Is 60V or 72V better for an EV bike battery?

Match the EV bike battery 60V or 72V to your controller: a 60V controller takes a 60V pack, a 72V controller takes a 72V pack. Never mix them. 60V suits daily city riding; 72V suits higher-speed bikes. We build both with EVE cells and a 3-year warranty.

How do you find your EV bike’s voltage before buying a battery?

Look at the controller label or the old battery sticker. The controller is usually a metal box under the seat or near the motor, and its label states a rated voltage such as 60V or 72V. That number is your target.

If the label is faded, check the charger. A charger marked 60V or 72V output tells you what the bike expects. Do not rely on the sales name alone: two bikes with the same model name can ship with different controllers.

  • Controller label: rated voltage and current.
  • Old battery sticker: nominal voltage and Ah.
  • Charger label: output voltage.
  • Bike manual or dealer invoice: model and voltage class.

What happens if you fit a 60V battery on a 72V bike?

The bike will not run properly. A 72V controller expects a higher input and will usually cut off or show a low-voltage error. In some cases it may power on but refuse to accelerate.

The reverse is worse: a 72V pack on a 60V controller sends too much voltage into components rated for less. That can damage the controller, the DC-DC converter or the display. The BMS may protect the pack, but the bike electronics are at risk.

Voltage is not a tuning knob. Treat it as a fixed specification for your bike.

When can a 60V bike safely take a 63V pack?

Only when the controller label lists a compatible range that includes 63V, or when we have checked the controller model and confirmed it. Many 60V controllers tolerate a 63V nominal pack because their capacitors and MOSFETs are rated higher, but not all do.

The same logic applies to 72V bikes and 76V packs. A 76V pack can give a little more headroom, but only if the controller and DC-DC converter are rated for it.

Send us a photo of your controller label on WhatsApp and we will confirm whether the higher-voltage option is safe for your bike.

Most Evee models in the 60V class include the Nisa, GEN-Z, LX and Sqube, which usually ship with a 60V 32Ah graphene pack. The 72V class includes the S1, S1 Pro, S1 Air, GEN-Z Pro, C1 Air and Nisa 3W, typically with a 72V 35Ah graphene pack. Most Jolta bikes run 60V or 72V systems.

These are stock configurations. Always confirm your own bike’s controller before ordering, because battery swaps and dealer changes happen.

Bike class Typical stock voltage Common models
Entry electric bicycle 48V Evee Flipper, Mito, Mito+
Mid-power EV bike 60V Evee Nisa, GEN-Z, LX, Sqube
High-speed EV bike 72V Evee S1, S1 Pro, S1 Air, GEN-Z Pro, C1 Air, Nisa 3W

Does higher voltage mean more speed or more range?

Higher voltage mainly supports higher speed and stronger acceleration when the motor and controller are built for it. It does not automatically add range. Range comes from capacity in Ah and from how efficiently the whole system works.

A 72V 20Ah pack and a 60V 30Ah pack can have similar energy, but the 72V system may feel quicker while the 60V system may go farther at lower speed. Choose voltage by what your controller allows, then choose Ah by your daily kilometres.

How does the smart BMS protect a mismatched setup?

Our packs use a smart BMS that monitors cell voltage, temperature and current. It will cut off the pack if it sees over-charging, deep discharge, over-current, a short circuit or thermal imbalance.

That protection is a safety net, not a compatibility fix. A BMS cannot make a 72V pack work on a 60V controller. It can stop a bad situation from becoming a fire, but the bike still will not run correctly.

How much does an EV bike battery cost in Pakistan?

Our lithium packs start at Rs 56,000 for a 48V 20Ah and rise with voltage and capacity. A 60V 20Ah is Rs 67,000 and a 72V 20Ah is Rs 79,000. Larger Ah packs cost more because they use more cells.

These are our current prices for standard builds. Custom shapes at the same voltage and capacity carry no extra charge. For a firm quote on your bike, send us the model and a photo of the controller label.

How to confirm your voltage with our workshop before ordering

We confirm voltage from the controller label, the charger and the bike model. Send us a clear photo of the controller sticker and tell us your daily route. We will reply with the right pack and a price.

If you are in Islamabad or Rawalpindi, bring the bike to our I-9/3 workshop for a free battery health check and installation. For other cities, we deliver nationwide and guide your local mechanic by phone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 60V or 72V better for an electric bike in Pakistan?

Neither is better in general. Match your controller: a 60V bike needs a 60V pack, a 72V bike needs a 72V pack. 60V is common on mid-power city bikes and 72V on higher-speed models. Choose capacity by daily km, not voltage alone.

What is the price of a 72V lithium battery for an e-bike in Pakistan?

Our 72V lithium packs start at Rs 79,000 for 20Ah and go up with capacity. The 30Ah is Rs 115,000, 40Ah is Rs 149,000 and 60Ah is Rs 219,000. Prices are current; confirm your bike model for an exact quote.

How much does an EV bike battery cost in Pakistan?

Our lithium EV bike batteries start at Rs 56,000 for a 48V 20Ah pack. A 60V 20Ah is Rs 67,000 and a 72V 20Ah is Rs 79,000. Larger capacities cost more. Custom shapes at the same voltage and capacity carry no extra charge.

Can I use a 72V battery on a 60V bike?

No, unless the controller is explicitly rated for 72V. A 72V pack on a 60V controller can damage the controller, DC-DC converter or display. Always match the pack to the controller label, or ask us to check the controller model first.

How do I reset my e-bike battery?

Most smart BMS packs reset by switching the battery off, waiting a short while, then switching it back on. If the bike still does not power up, check the fuse and the charger. For a pack from us, call or WhatsApp and we will guide you.

How can I charge my e-bike battery without a charger?

Do not use a random charger or direct wiring. A wrong voltage or polarity can damage the BMS or cause a fire. Use only a charger matched to your pack voltage. If your charger failed, contact us for the correct replacement.

Final Thoughts

The short version:

  • Match the battery voltage to your controller: 60V bike takes 60V, 72V bike takes 72V.
  • Never fit a higher-voltage pack unless the controller is rated for it.
  • Choose Ah by daily kilometres, not by voltage alone.
  • Our packs use EVE cells with a smart BMS and a 3-year warranty.
  • Custom shapes cost no extra at the same voltage and capacity.
