The anti-lock braking system stops your wheels from locking up during hard or slippery braking. Four wheel speed sensors report how fast each wheel is turning. When one starts to lock, the ABS control module pulses the brake pressure through a hydraulic actuator many times a second, so you keep steering control instead of skidding.
